What’s it like living in Hudson? Possible L.A. transplant…

Lived in SoCal most of my life. Wife and 3 kids (21, 16 & 13) and 3 dogs (2 Aussies and a Heeler) although not a certainty yet, but there might be an a new job opportunity within my company that would require me to move to Houston. Like I said, it’s not a sure thing but I kinda started looking into it. I feel like the biggest issue for us would be the humidity. My wife fkn hates it and my kids play soccer year round. Not to mention that I spend tons of time hiking and running with my dogs. I’m a bit concerned to say the least…

I hear there’s plenty of things to do and our income will definitely go further than L.A. so I feel like entertainment, sports, don’t be an issue. I do have some questions for the natives, specially anyone with a similar family. But all feedback is welcomed.

  • How do dogs fair in that heat/humidity? Well I be able to run regularly with them or will overheating be a real issue to deal with?

  • How do kids deal with outside sports? Is there any indie soccer? What about high school sports? How do the kids deal with the heat?

  • Anyone know what the commute is like from the woodlands vicinity to DTH ?

  • Any suggestions for family oriented communities?

  • Do you guys basically just run on auto 24/7 ?

I realize some of these questions may seem silly but I really can’t imagine living anywhere that is not L.A. I’m familiar with Phoenix and Tampa so I know great variations, I just don’t know what it’d be like living there. Thank you ahead of time to anyone who can share any words of wisdom.
