Do you all really think you’re getting four #1 draft picks for a QB you won’t play?
I keep reading this in NFL trade rumors – that Houston still thinks they are going to get four #1 for Watson.
Simultaneously, as a business, Houston seems to have made the decision that the PR fallout it isn’t worth playing Watson this season.
Why would any team agree to pay Watson $160 million, alienate half their fan base, and give up four #1s?
It’s sort of like how people were outraged Kaepernick wasn’t as a team because he was “better than a lot of team’s backups.” Yeah – that may have been true, but you’re also pissing off 30% of your paying fanbase.
Watson is a better play than Kaepernick, but he also costs $160 million and would be much, much less popular with any fanbase than Kaepernick. I’m not sure teams any teams would sign Watson for free (and again, Houston is paying him not to play). Four #1s and $160 millio would have almost every single fanbase revolting.
