I've got an overnight layover coming up on my way to Costa Rica. I'm from the UK and have never been to the states before, so i'm looking to do something in the few hours I have there.

I arrive at 6pm and my flight leaves the next morning at 9:40am. Now, staying at the airport would probably be wise given one of the things I do know about Houston is the traffic, but that would limit what I'm able to do that evening.

Is there anywhere near IAH where I could stay and still venture out? I wont be driving but I suppose I could Uber it somewhere and back, be it Downtown or an area near the airport. Usually I'd opt for a pint at a pub somewhere but this being the US I'm keen to try out some fast food that we don't have in the UK like In-n-Out or Chick-fil-a.

What would you suggest I do that evening? Any hotel recommendations that don't break the bank would also be appreciated.
