Having major issues receiving my license plates, registration sticker, and title from a dealership. Anyone else? (More info in comments)

As the title states, I bought a car back in January but do to a clerical error with the bill of sale, the title transfer wasn’t “paid” until April. They claim it has been paid now and are blaming the delay on the county/state.

My original paper plate expired in March so when I called the dealership they said there was a big delay and they sent me another paper plate they expires July 31. The issue is I have a big roadtrip planned leaving July 31 and really don’t want to have to drive through Oklahoma with paper plates much less expired ones.

So questions are: has anyone experienced this? I feel like the dealership is bullshitting me but I have also seen an (even larger) amount of paper plates driving around- especially expired ones.

If they are BSing me, what is my recourse? I have a bill of sale signed by dealership rep and showing that title transfer is include and marked as paid, the original piece of paper you are supposed to keep in car until the real plates arrive as well.

Every time I’ve called the tax office they have just kind of shrugged. I purchased the car in Harris County but (attempted) to register it in Montgomery County (matching addresses of bill of sale and my driver’s license as my permanent address).

Someone please halp!

Houston -> Saint Charles, Iowa. Any places worth stopping by or getting?

Incoming: Copypasta Spam from a few different groups. Hopefully this is right for the group- didn’t see any rules against it.

I’ll be taking the scenic trip up to Saint Charles, Iowa. Any great or places to stop at in between here and there? I love corn and all but I figure there has to be something else in between here and there.

I might be making a detour through Witchita so if there are any recommendations in that direction those would be plenty welcome too!

Also, if anything ends up along the way I’d be happy to mule some back!

Also also, if anyone else is headed to Hinterland Music Festival which you should, the lineup is insane and is super fairly priced- I’m looking for some folks to carpool/share gas so let me know!

Thanks yall!

Mothers Day Lunch- I know this is a long shot but, nice environment/Astros game/decent food near downtown?

Thanks to a great user here that recommended the cistern tours, I am planning on doing that. We are trying to decide if we want to do it on mother’s day specifically or wait- mainly due to the fact we are going to want/need to eat while in town and Mother’s Day is obviously notoriously slammed for our service industry friends.

So my question is is there any chance of us getting into any place that first off a) has good food b) some place we could walk in with a fairly minimum wait or make a reservation for and c) would be showing the Astros game. (Yes, she loves the Astros too- this isn’t just for me and my old man)

My first thought is St Arnold’s but it is looking like its going to be pretty warm and I’m unsure of availability. I know it’s busy on Sundays as it is, so I gotta imagine it’s gonna be slammed on Mothers Day. She also isnt a huge fan of beer any more unfortunately but I know St Arn’s has some wine/seltzer/cider alternative.

Any ideas? For those grizzled SA vets, what time (if ever) does Mother’s Day crowd kind of die down? Think we could miss it a bit if we waited till mid afternoon around 3?

IMPORTANT: MOTHERS DAY IS A WEEK FROM TODAY— Now that I have your attention are there any sort of cool art exhibits that aren’t MFA related coming up?

Tired of just getting my mom flowers for mothers day and we have enough stuff and are moving soon- would rather spend the money on an experience she would enjoy.

That ‘Van Gogh Experience’ one looks interesting but after some quick googling it seems a bit of a copy-cat and thrown together in terms of organization so that seems a bit dodgy to me in terms of quality delivered.

She is involved a bit with MFA so I was hoping something maybe outside of that because she typically knows about all those beforehand and already has her own plans for those.

Authentic Chinese Restaurant? More details in notes

Sorry for spamming the sub tonight but I kind of waited till the last minute and am panicking a bit

I’m interested in taking my folks to an authentic Chinese restaurant that has lots of different dishes that we can order and eat family style (preferably with a lazy Susan in the middle). When I lived there my friend group called it “Dongbei” but I dont think that was accurate as the region doesnt appear to have the same types of food we were eating.

I looked at Cooking Girl which appears to have what I am looking for, but wanted to get yalls opinions if there is any place yall like more.

I’ll include some pictures in the comments of dishes I’d really like to have for posterity’s sake. Mainly dry fried green beans and dry fried cauliflower.
