Questions about the area near Toyota Center
We are from the Pittsburgh area and have been to Texas a few times, but never Houston. Will be staying for 6 days in November, specifically around the Toyota Center and wanted to know more about the area.
- Whats the best local food? Would rather give my money to self owned than major chains. We are, by no means, picky eaters and kind of adventurous ones so cuisine can be anything, just what you think the best in that area is? We lean more towards Mexican, Gastropub, Burgers/Wings and Chinese when we go out but we are open to everything and anything.
- Best brewery or drinking spots? Again, would prefer local. Nothing too fancy, someplace you can belly up to the bar and relax. Not interested in sports bars or night clubs. We are in our mid to late 40’s but still drink like we are in our 20’s so beer/whiskey and cocktails are mostly what we drink and look for. Winery’s are in play as well.
- What is that area referred to? Would that be considered Civic Center, East Downtown or…?
- While in the area, anything we shouldn’t miss seeing, doing or experiencing while in Houston? Will be there in November so I assume the weather will be cooler.
- We will have a rental car, but are most things in that area walkable or should we consider Uber/Lyft?
Sorry if any of this is redundant to what may have been previously asked or posted, but I didn’t see too much regarding what I asked. Thanks in advance!
