My 12yr old daughter recently had both legs operated on to correct a birth defect that would have put her in a wheelchair for life by the age of 25. While in recovery (2nd day), my wife noticed that our daughter looked pale and sickly, which the nursed described as being post-operative. The very next morning, my wife was awoken by a doctor turning all the lights in the room on and yelling for nurses to do a blood test. It was discovered that my little girl had an internal bone bleed and was tachycardic, meaning that her hemoglobin levels were WAY below normal. In the end, she was given a full unit of blood. During the same stay, an elevator door slammed on my wife's arm without warning, causing her shoulder to become dislocated and for her to wear her arm in a sling, lowering her ability to help our daughter. Lastly, on the third day of her stay, my daughter developed a pressure ulcer on her tailbone and nothing was done about it whatsoever. When we reported this to the nurses, they told us that it did not qualify for a "donut" to help support her and relieve pressure on the area and suggested that we use pillows to achieve that. Nothing medically was done about it whatsoever and has since that time become necrotic and is a full abscess. We took her to her primary care physician who has since been helping with this via medication and advice and emotional support. All of these instances are well documented with the hospital itself. We are looking for a lawyer willing to take the case and could possibly be willing to take his or her fee from the resolution. Please.....can anyone at least point us in the right direction?
