Following up on u/YahooSam2021's post, a lot of people agreed that Houston can practically expand outward or densify by a large magnitude, and with that there are plenty of opportunities and ideas for development. I would like to hear what areas of Houston you guys want to see developed, personally I would like to see the area between highway 6 and beltway 8 from Sugar Land to Galveston become more developed as I feel there's a ton of room to expand there. The area around friendswood and NASA also sounds like a great idea to densify/develop, although there is a lot of sprawl there.

What is the fanciest/most expensive restaurant in all of Houston? https://houstonnewmedia.org/what-is-the-fanciest-most-expensive-restaurant-in-all-of-houston/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=what-is-the-fanciest-most-expensive-restaurant-in-all-of-houston Mon, 24 Oct 2022 22:02:40 +0000 http://houstonnewmedia.org/?guid=b678ca66292e3d6cc75de472e26c2982

I need to know. I want to know where the most boujee and prestigious restaurant is in all of Houston, I'm talking at least $200+ per person. Something so fancy that driving up in a 2006 honda accord will force the valet people to park it in the back so as to not ruin the facade of the restaurant with brokeness. Something where there is a line of supercars, land rovers and G-wagons parked in the front to show off. Something where there is a posh dress code and has an aura of prestige.

Any good Mongolian restaurants in Houston? https://houstonnewmedia.org/any-good-mongolian-restaurants-in-houston/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=any-good-mongolian-restaurants-in-houston Mon, 03 Oct 2022 21:11:40 +0000 http://houstonnewmedia.org/?guid=c60b8858dda9ca1b1ef3ce6eba440d0d

I've been interested to try some after seeing some videos of what the food is like. Are there any restaurants that have the hearty stuff with lots of dairy and meats, and not just a knock off of Chinese cuisine?

Is an artificial mountain in Houston possible? https://houstonnewmedia.org/is-an-artificial-mountain-in-houston-possible/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=is-an-artificial-mountain-in-houston-possible Thu, 25 Aug 2022 18:30:21 +0000 http://houstonnewmedia.org/?guid=577f98cedaedfb33303e70c81a8da11c

So alot of us often get bored from the lack of elevation diversity, me included. So what if an artificial mountain was built? I'm talking big, like huge. Something like the Franklin mountains in El Paso for reference. It would most likely be in the west/southwest area near Cinco Ranch/Sugar Land since that's where the most space is. Build it near those two, and connect roads.

I'd imagine it would be very cool, and many people would want to develop on top of it. It would also probably be the most expensive property in the entire Houston metro area save for maybe River Oaks. There would also be more economic development for Houston as well, and add a stark change of scenery in the southwest side. It should be covered with trees and winding roads, as well as a mall and public spaces for people to congregate.

I can't be the only one who thinks this is a good idea, right?

Houstonians who make 200k+ a year, what do you do? https://houstonnewmedia.org/houstonians-who-make-200k-a-year-what-do-you-do/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=houstonians-who-make-200k-a-year-what-do-you-do Sat, 11 Jun 2022 21:30:28 +0000 http://houstonnewmedia.org/?guid=19adc9843513c59d352ea121f1d9c39e

I'm interested, since Houston is a LCOL city, the income usually reflects as COL is lower. What do you do to make a killing, and if applicable, what did you major in college, and was that major useful?

How bad is the job market for entry level jobs in Houston? https://houstonnewmedia.org/how-bad-is-the-job-market-for-entry-level-jobs-in-houston/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=how-bad-is-the-job-market-for-entry-level-jobs-in-houston Sun, 29 May 2022 20:58:42 +0000 http://houstonnewmedia.org/?guid=b951f1248ac12a42e508646d7260395e

Sometimes when I see people's resumes from college, they have previous work experience in retail or fast food. Right now I'm an incoming freshman @ UH looking for a job, any job, over the summer because I feel if you don't have those entry level grunt jobs on your resume when you are applying to white collar work such as Junior level software developer positions, you seem like a coddled/lazy/unhirable person.

These are just my views, and I'm anxious because I'm afraid that I'll get ghosted by retail/fast food jobs. I applied to like 7 jobs today and I heard you need like 100 job applications to get 1 interview nowadays. I don't really have any experience on my resume, so it's gonna make it harder.

Discrepancy in tech salaries between Austin and Houston https://houstonnewmedia.org/discrepancy-in-tech-salaries-between-austin-and-houston/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=discrepancy-in-tech-salaries-between-austin-and-houston Sun, 17 Apr 2022 22:05:43 +0000 http://houstonnewmedia.org/?guid=68d81fb6456287df2bb88900238e85bd

Hey, so I thought that Austin was the tech hub of the south, and was paying higher salaries than any other city in the south because of its tech scene and relatively high cost of living. However, going to the website Living wage calculator shows the average salaries of each occupational area in the provided metro area.

Comparing the occupational area "Computer & Mathematical" between the Austin and Houston metro area, Austin actually has a lower average salary than Houston, which is surprising. I thought Houston had a smaller tech scene and less job opportunities than Austin? Or is there something missing from the equation I don't know about?

I’m a HS senior in houston, and conflicted about which college to go to. https://houstonnewmedia.org/im-a-hs-senior-in-houston-and-conflicted-about-which-college-to-go-to/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=im-a-hs-senior-in-houston-and-conflicted-about-which-college-to-go-to Sat, 05 Mar 2022 00:49:01 +0000 http://houstonnewmedia.org/?guid=7097468a38cc375dbce091e6518f04d7

I was recently accepted to both UH and A&M. I am studying mathematics as I enjoy it. However I am trying to decide which one to go to. Math and both colleges are decently good. UH would be less than half the price of A&M and more AP credits would transfer over, saving me time, and UH lets me switch majors hassle free while at A&M its pretty hard. However A&M has more "prestige" and has access to more resources and opportunities. I'm leaning towards UH because so much cheaper and I dont have to pay for a dorm. Any input from current or former Aggies and Coogs is highly appreciated.
