Read Moreprices for energy are skyrocketing as we all know. I’m a student living in an apartment and I just renew every year, and I’ll be moving out of my apartment by the end of this year (might move out of houston? not too sure of my plans) so I’m looking for a 12 month fixed contract. I’m currently shopping around for plans on those cheap electric rate comparison websites and the cheapest I’m looking at for my monthly usage is around 18 c/kWh–essentially double of what I’m currently paying. I’ve always seen ads for TXU energy and I’ve always thought it was somewhat of a scam because their prices are kind of ridiculous (currently they’re at 24 c/kWh for what I’m looking for) but then they have these little deals like free electricity from 8 pm to 5 am. considering that I’m not home for most of the day and I tend to just blast the AC at night since I like sleeping at a cozy 68 degrees, is this not a reasonable price? or is there more to it than that?
