To be more specific, our pass defense was 26th with our rush defense being 22nd.

I know it’s probably both in terms of negatives, but which would you say was the bigger negative? The secondary was roughly patched with additions throughout the season so of course there’s going to be so many missed cues as we saw late in the season.

Dline wise aside from Watt for a few games, DJ Reader was the only one who seemed to excel throughout the season. Whitney Mercilus after dominating early on just straight up disappeared idk if it was immediately after Watt injury or some other time.

Obviously pass rushing wise needs work, but with just the amount of at least solid-good players on the non-secondary side should’ve at least had a decent rush defense.

Either it’s just a bad overall fit together with just a bunch of good players but don’t compliment each other well. Or the coaching hasn’t been able to get them to gel together cohesively.

What are your thoughts?

Even when we had Clowney healthy with Watt + Merci and other defensive players over the last few years, our pass rush has just been anywhere from awful (for the top talent) to only average.

Is the issue lack of talent? Pass rushing packages? Fit of the talent? I get the argument that our secondary last few years would give up fast plays, but at least a pass rush that could beat their man % wise?

This year according to ESPN’s metrics our Team Pass Rush Win Rate is tied for 27th (basically only 3 teams worse) in the league. Our team Pass Block rate is 6th in the league though.
