Why does the Chronicle promote Blue Bell so much? It’s not even labeled advertising

Why does the Chronicle promote Blue Bell so much? It's not even labeled advertising

I follow the Chronicle on IG and I’ve seen multiple posts (not labeled as ads) where they’re just promoting new Blue Bell flavors. You know… the company that tried to cover up a listeriosis outbreak

Why is canceling a Chron.com subscription so difficult

Unfortunate circumstances led me to have to buy a digital subscription to Chron and I remembered I needed to cancel it today before I got charged again. Do you realize how difficult it is to do this!? Not only can you not do it online, you have to call a number and practically beg them to do it for you after waiting on hold and getting transferred around a few times. Even when I told the 3rd person I wanted to cancel, not only did they not do it, it turned out they signed me up for more time! Now my inbox is flooded with chron newsletters! It’s insane the lengths you have to go to cancel that thing. Like a fucking zombie that won’t die.

Back in town until Thursday… help me design my perfect food plan!

I wanna do this right! I just got home to visit family in Montrose at 1:30 am after a horrid IAH experience… and ordered HALAL GUYS (even though I’m wondering if I screwed up and should have gotten Zalat?)! What should I get tomorrow and the days after?

Here are a few preferences for guidance: Definitely want crawfish on this list at least twice (oysters and other seafood, especially gumbo/cajun, acceptable as well), some badass TexMex that’s not Ninfas or El Tiempo, Vietnamese for sure (pho focused but willing to expand), Sechuan Chinese, fried chicken, soul food, and also new stuff I’ve never had before. Lay the restaurant recs on me and I’ll go! I’ve got no plans and I’m ready to feast.

I’ll be staying in the Montrose area for the most part but am willing to drive anywhere you tell me to as long as it’s not Dallas.

Anybody had any close calls on the highways as an Uber passenger?

Took a Lyft from my house in Montrose to the airport this morning. The dude clearly had a vision problem — swerving everywhere, sudden bursts of speed and slowing down, wild overcorrecting. All of this on 59 in the rain. When we got to the Sam Houston overpass… yeah, he almost went straight into the guardrail. Also the whole trip he was feeling around on his passenger seat for something. About 15 minutes into the drive he found what he was looking for — a pair of freakin glasses! The whole trip was easily the most terrifying driving experience I’ve ever had, I was sure I was done for. Anybody else ever have something like this happen? What a shitty way to die

Alcohol detox programs?

I live in Montrose and I realized I have a problem, which has become much more obvious now that I’ve been trapped at home for a couple weeks. I want to stop cold turkey but I’ve read it can be dangerous (I also doubt my ability to do it); does anyone have any experience with detox/alcohol abuse programs in my area, or other advice in general? I really want to stop drinking.
