I don't know about you guys, but I have been hearing NON STOP how our crime is out of control. I decided to find out for myself if this is true by downloading crime data from HPD. See source below. I only spent about 30 minutes, so certain things are not accounted for, like population growth. I would expect that the total number of crimes should increase in proportion with population.

But anyways, please check it out. I don't think it's as bad as they say.

Unless you buy a natural gas generator, or you have massive tanks of propane, you will be looking at portable gasoline generators like most people. My buddy went all out and bought a 13,000 watt (running) generator, bragging that he can power is entire house, central AC included, and he can. The only issue is that the generator uses around 1 gallon of gas per HOUR to do that. This cost around $100/day and means that he has to ready around 10 gas cans before storm hits. Meanwhile, I have a modest 3500 watt inverter generator which only uses 1-2 gallons of gas per 10 hours. It won't power my entire house, but it will run a window AC unit, fridge, TV, lights, and small electronics no problem. With just a couple cans of gas I can run for days 24/7 and it's quieter, smaller, and easier to move. Plus, many smaller inverter generators produce clean electricity which is suitable for any electronics.

Obviously choose what is best for your family, but when you run out of gasoline for your monster generator, you're no better off.
