I have lived on the west coast for all of my life, having only moved from Washington to California in 2016. Due to unforseen circumstances involving my roommate's parents, I'm likely moving with a friend near Houston. I have a few questions about how my potential move to Texas may impact me.

Namely, what is the state of social services in Texas like? I have been accustomed to being able to have my needs met due to being low income as far as CalFresh (EBT/SNAP) and MediCAL (Medicaid/Low-income Health Insurance) which cover my groceries and psychiatry appointments, respectively. So, I was curious about what Texas has to offer.

Any insight on this would be appreciated!
