Do people of color in Houston still experience housing discrimination?
Curious if minorities in Houston (Asian, Black, Latinx, Native American) still experience housing discrimination? I’m talking about educated, upper-middle class, white-collar folks where socio-economic reasons can’t be used against you. Like someone who in NY and CA would be a desirable tenant.
Are there still apartment buildings in Houston that will discriminate against you based on race? I’m Asian from NY and have only lived in CA so don’t know what’s going on in TX. I’m in a situation where I can’t understand why after my rental application was accepted the leasing office has been dragging its feet and not sending me the lease to sign. My salary is 6 figures, I earn almost 5x rent, but credit score from a major bureau is 640ish.
