I browsed lots of Reddit posts about power and saw many cases in which someone uses a bit over a threshold (e.g., 1001 kwH instead of 1000) and their bill doubles. I can't see that pricing structure in any of the plans I'm looking at. Does anyone know what I should look for in trying to avoid such scam outcomes?

Also, am I correct in that bills can be significantly lower if you use MORE electricity? It looks like some estimated bills for the same company are lower at 1000 kwH vs 700 kwH! To be clear, the estimated total bill is lower, not just the per kwH rate!

I've been looking at high-rise apartments and condos, all with floor to ceiling windows. If they face south and/or west, and you keep blinds or shades up, does it get super hot in the rooms in the afternoon? Thanks!

Can anyone recommend parts of Houston where a somewhat serious cyclist can ride from his house...if anywhere? I'm talking about regular rides of at least 20 miles at 18+ mph. I mention speed and distance in part to hear opinions on living near the bike trails. I haven't tried those... Is it possible to ride fast and far on them?

Relatedly, would The Woodlands be a much better location?
