Hi r/houston

We're looking to move to Houston, but are unsure of what to make of the mosquito situation. A lot of what I've found online is pretty gloomy - "just stay inside May through September" "don't try fighting it as none of the misters or anything do much."

Are the mosquitoes really that bad and is there anything that helps keep them at bay? Are some neighborhoods in the greater Houston / Harris County neighborhood better than others? (We're primarily looking at The Woodlands / Spring)

The main draw for moving is warmer weather and the possibility of a pool. We'd love to spend most evenings in the backyard, but mosquitoes seem to love me and I've seen a lot of posts that say just stay inside after sunset.

Any help is appreciated.
