Not buying into all this David Johnson hate

He came into the league and had a decent rookie season with a thousand yards from scrimmage and 12 total touchdowns. We all know he then lit the league on fire his second year. 2017 he dislocated his hand/wrist week 1 and was out the rest of the season. The rest of his career injuries were a sprained MCL, a dislocated finger, sprained ankle, and a sprained hamstring his rookie year. None of those injuries have long term effects an a players running ability like a torn Achilles or something similar. 2018 the Cardinals terrible offense was lead by Josh Rosen and the team went 3-13. DJ still nearly broke 1000 yards rushing, nearly 500 yards receiving and 10 total TD’s.

Then there’s last year:

Wk 1: 18/82 yrds, 4.6 ypc – 7/55 rec yrds, 1TD.

Wk 2,3,4: the team was blown out by Baltimore, Carolina, and Seattle where they abandon the run.

Wk 5: 17/91 yrds, 5.4 ypc – 5/65 rec yrds

Wk 6: 12/34 yrds, 2.8 ypc, 1TD – 8/68 1 Rec TD

Wk 7: He sprained his ankle. Their other two RB’s were hurt as well so they needed help. They’re able to pick up Drake with a 5th-6th compensatory pick.

I can’t really explain what happened the 2nd half of the year last year, but don’t believe it’s a stretch that Drake was just a better fit for Kingsbury’s air raid offense. Either way, I do believe OB will use DJ as a workhorse the same way he tried to use Foster before he kept getting injured. DJ also says he’s got that chip back on his shoulder, so I have hope he plays like it. I hate that we lost one of my favorite players in Hop, but take emotions out of it, and I can see what OB is trying to do. I’m willing to see how it plays out before giving up on this team. But God help our defense and pass rush.
