Easterby, the lingering odor of O'Brien, the dismal outlook are all well documented. What isn't is the toxic relationship between the team and its' fans. All I can see on Reddit and blogs is this battered spouse mentality where people are constantly threatening to leave behind their fan-ship forever unless certain conditions are met, and then when they don't produce immediate results it's back to threatening to leave again. I think this is in some way contributing, not helping the overall toxic culture of the Houston Texans organization.

I think whatever happens, if you're a Texans fan you should be a fan for life. It's agonizing but at the end of the day it's football, it's not exactly real life. Just because you're a fan of a team that doesn't have to mean they're always a good team who's headed in the right direction. If we end up completely re-building, it may take years, or even decades to get back on track. All the ups and downs are part of being a fan. I'm not asking people to be OK with being a battered fan, but I think it would help if we all kept a more healthy perspective on the realities of NFL football and the fact that your team isn't always going to be good. Being a loyal fan, to me, starts with realizing this truth.
