When I bought my house, I just went with who ever my realtor said (Pulse Power) and got a fixed rate from them and went with it. Hence – I am sort of clueless on power choosing. The new rates being offered at 16 c/kwh so I want to change.
I did do my due diligence and go through the posts on power already and came across
EnergyOgre which I made an account for and powertochose.org. After looking at both energy Ogre does not seem as promising so I am looking at powertochose where I don’t have to pay a broker fee.
I am seeing rates of 12-13c/kwh (I use 1500 kwh during winter and 2500 during summer peaks) at a fixed rate.
Is it as simple as that? I see all sorts of ratings and reviews about energy companies on powertochose, but is that really relevant if I am going into a fixed rate contract?
ALSO, is 12-13 c/kwh historically a pretty good rate? I am debating between a 12 month and 24 or 36 month contract if power has the chance of mega spiking.

I am not looking to get involved in any of those saving schemes (free hours, etc), I just want a clear cut rate for energy usage and reliable power.
Also on switch-over day, should I expect to lose power? (If my change day is 2/1/2023, and I go from Pulse power to another company, will I be without power for some time)

Thanks!
