Contreras Thoughts

Yanier Diaz has been very good in AAA this year and played big in the futures game. With him and Korey Lee primed to be our catchers if the future, does it make sense for us to spend some prospects getting Contreras? I’d say no.

However, we have a severe lack of depth at 1B in the farm. Trading away one of our top prospects for Bell makes sense for the immediate championship run as well as future. I’d love to grab Bell and resign him to a 4-5 year deal.

My top targets would be Bell and Chafin. Getting these two would mean our only “hole” is at the C position but we all know how valuable Maldy is in October so it’s more of a strength than anything.

What are you guys thinking?

This one hurts more than usual.

I just can’t seem to shake this loss. It was such a winnable game. If you told me before it started that we’d hold them to 2 runs on 6 hits I’d have thought FOR SURE we’d win. I don’t get how everyone can slump in the same game. Key points:

  • We swung Anderson into 5IP. He missed the zone all night. Not close misses…AWFUL misses and we just kept chasing horribly. I feel like it was more us playing like s**t than him pitching a masterpiece.
  • The obvious of not getting any hits until the 8th from a pinch hitter.
  • Correa popping up a hanging curve in the ninth. That ball should’ve been tagged for a hit to the wall.
  • Bregman still looks injured. How does he not take second on that wild pitch?
  • Maybe Siri could’ve gone home after the steal? I didn’t see another angle but his face seemed like he thought he could make it.

I know we can come back. I get it. But this one hurts. It was VERY winnable and we let it slip through our fingers. Now we HAVE to win these next two I feel. Even going back to Houston down 3-2 will be very tough to overcome. This Braves team is damn good.
