Two biggest "what ifs" for Texans in last 1.5 years

There are two huge, off the field, moves that almost happened, that would have dramatically changed our organization.

  1. Signing Trent Brown. We made him a solid offer, but the raiders made him (at the time) the highest paid tackle I’m football. We all kind of laughed off that number when we saw it, but he played lights out last year. Same caliber player as tunsil, and now gets paid less….and of course, we’d still have all of our picks. I know he plays RT for raiders, but played well at LT for pats.

  2. Resigning Carlos Hyde. He apparently turned down $5 mil/season, which if true, is just insane. He isn’t worth that, as shown by no teams making offers his way yet. We probably don’t bring in David Johnson with Carlos Hyde on the books, who knows where Hopkins would be right now if Carlos took that money.

What do y’all think? Both moves almost happened, and we were happy as fans when they didn’t. Crazy to think about our team if they did though

Our Offensive stats 2018 vs 2019

I was arguing with someone else on another thread in this sub, saying our offense didn’t really improve this season. I looked up some stats, and here they are.

2018/2019 2019/2020
Total Yards: 5802 – 15th in NFL Total Yards: 5719 – 13th in NFL
Total Points: 402 – 11th in NFL Total Points: 378 – 14th in NFL
Total Pass Yards: 3781 – 17th in NFL Total Pass Yards: 3783 – 15th in NFL
Total Rush Yards: – 2021 – 8th in NFL Total Rush Yards: 2009 – 9th in NFL
Yds/Play: 5.6 Yds/play – 16th in NFL Yds/Play: 5.7 Yds/play – 12th in NFL

Our genius GM/Coach spent our first two picks on offense, and traded for Duke, Tunsil, Stills, and Hyde. We had almost the exact same numbers across the board, despite a massive influx of talent. At least he’s consistent, and we know what to expect.

Not sure how you can justify keeping him around for a 7th try, and expect anything different.
