I don't remember Houston being this wet.

I mean, we get a lot of rain. But it's rained a tropical storm every afternoon for weeks on end.

I never remember it being like Florida?.

What’s your favourite tree that does well in Houston weather? My oleander died in the freeze and considering my options. https://houstonnewmedia.org/whats-your-favourite-tree-that-does-well-in-houston-weather-my-oleander-died-in-the-freeze-and-considering-my-options/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=whats-your-favourite-tree-that-does-well-in-houston-weather-my-oleander-died-in-the-freeze-and-considering-my-options Tue, 22 Jun 2021 00:55:25 +0000 http://houstonnewmedia.org/?guid=38ae658fef28930eccdc38603d9c45bd

So my oleander died from the ground up during the Texas freeze.

Gave it all the time in the world to come back but it hasn't.

There's tons of shoots coming from the roots, about 3 ft tall now, that are now struggling because of the dead tree limbs that are barren stopping them from climbing higher.

I have cut down all the dead limbs, they were most definitely dead... No green that was under the bark as before.

Plus I had a reason to break out a chainsaw and pretend to be ash from evil dead which is always fun.

So, doing some research I have found out that oleanders are shrubs?

My oleander was a big tree, with many, many, thick limbs (about 3-8" in diameter).

I'm not sure if it's going to regrow as a shrub or a tree.

It's in the corner of my back yard and I really liked having a tree there. It's behind my plant beds and other shrubs so it needs to be taller.

So I considering diggin the whole thing out and planting a new tree from a nursery.

Maybe I should get a tree that wont be a little bitch when the temperature dips below 0c, and maybe one that also won't try to kill me when I trim the limbs? (Oleanders are toxic and can give you heart attacks).

So, what's your favourite tree that thrives in Houston?

I already have a gorgeous Texas Live oak in the front yard, which tempts me, But kind of want something with some color.

Anyway thanks for any advice!

This tree hasn’t started growing since the freeze, the base of it is however still alive. This tree on the other hand is huge. It seems the base of it is alive, still green and strong when I checked it. However all the thinne...

Does anyone know if Black Cedar Mulch is sold in Houston? https://houstonnewmedia.org/does-anyone-know-if-black-cedar-mulch-is-sold-in-houston/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=does-anyone-know-if-black-cedar-mulch-is-sold-in-houston Fri, 02 Apr 2021 16:18:00 +0000 http://houstonnewmedia.org/?guid=317fb19856471da8b3dfe3e76ed5580f

I planned on doing my yard today, I've been to two Garden Centers but they either have black (non cedar) or ceder (natural).

I can't seem to find my preferred black cedar mulch.

Does anyone happen to know where I could get this?

What does a ticket lawyer actually do? https://houstonnewmedia.org/what-does-a-ticket-lawyer-actually-do/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=what-does-a-ticket-lawyer-actually-do Thu, 20 Feb 2020 19:17:57 +0000 http://houstonnewmedia.org/?guid=52dd47c45dd4d6a7fe36416f509f9484 So I got my first ever ticket for speeding. I hired a ticket lawyer as everyone told me you pay him and it gets dismissed or he works out a deal, in the long run it may work out the same value as the ticket but the added benefit of removing it from you...
