Stray dog under house for 6 days
Hi everyone.
A stray dog has taken up residence in the crawlspace under my house for the last 6 days. He is friendly but incredibly skittish and I have not been able to lure him out. Initially when I found him I was able to leash him and bring him to a vet to get scanned for a chip, but when we returned home he got into the crawlspace and won’t come out.
Animal control said they couldn’t help and suggested a pest removal company. I’ve called dozens and none of them will help with a dog.
The SPCA said to call a contractor or plumber, someone that is comfortable with crawl spaces to get him out. I felt incredibly stupid but tried calling a few and got a resounding no, as I expected.
I’ve been trying to find a trap to put out but haven’t had any luck.
Reached out to several rescues who are unable to help.
I know he is able to get out as I’ve seen him leave but unable to get close enough to catch him or block return access. I’m sure he’s leaving while I’m at work to look for food.
Does anyone have any idea of what I can do/who I can call to get him out? He howls his head off at night which is stressing out my dogs and bothering my neighbors.
For reference, the dog is approx. 1 yr, 60lbs, intact. Mutt with medium length tan and white fur. Very friendly and hasn’t shown any aggression, just really scared. This is in the Acres Homes area in N Houston.
TIA!
