3-Day Itinerary – Visiting Houston for First Time This Weekend from the Northeast

Hi Houston,

I’m from Washington, D.C. and am visiting your fine city this extended weekend for an amateur photography trip. I know 3 days isn’t enough time to experience a city of 7.1 million people, so I’m just hoping to experience the highlights and get a flavor for the city. I won’t have a car, but I do about 4 of these trips a year to different cities and always just use public transit and Uber. Looking at distances, I think all of these are Uber-able without issue, and I know that Houston is enormously large, so tried to focus on key neighborhoods with lots of sights packed within them (Downtown, Montrose, Museum District).

I’m a big fan of art museums, preferably classical but modern can be good too, + historic pre-war architecture (especially Art Deco) and Americana (50s diners, cheap eats, the usual). I’m not really a foodie, so I gravitate for cheap filling food versus upscale food (a cherry tomato cut into 5 pieces with a small slice of ham isn’t my idea of a good dinner)

I tried to build an itinerary that worked to maximize my limited time, but wanted to get feedback from any locals if anything seems amiss. Please let me know if there are any hidden gems I missed. Thank you!
