My husband told me out of the blue that he wants a divorce. I am floored. But I don't know where to start with the legal stuff. Obviously, banking would be first since we have a joint account. But I am clueless about how to proceed next. We're far from rich, and we rent so we don't have much in the way of assets, but can anyone give me some advice? (Have lived in Houston for 20+ years and we were married here as well.)
