HCAD Purchase Price Rule
So HCAD just valued my new construction house $100,000 over what I paid for it last year. Add in the rule that they will not process homestead exemption the first year apparently and this is a pricey issue.
My question is will they just move it down when I show them the purchase price? I’m not asking if they should but am asking if anyone knows their actual policy. I have heard that they have done that in the past, but who knows now?
Also, does it matter that their square footage is also 200 square feet is also 7% bigger than what the builder told us?
