Difference in homestead exemption between me and my neighbor

First time home buyer here, closed it last year end. Recently I found that my homestead exemption was so large that my property tax was significantly lower than my neighbor’s, even if my house has a higher appraised value. Does anybody know why it’s the case?

My exemption is ” Residential Homestead (Multiple) ” while most of my neighbors’ are merely “Homestead”, if that makes any difference.

Water Department is overbilling me

As the title says, the water department is overbilling me for the past four months after I moved into my new house. They somehow billed me based on an estimated reading, which was way beyond my actual usage. I had an appointment with the meter technician and he verified the correct reading last month, but today I saw the estimated reading again for this month… In addition IT TAKES FOREVER for the billing department to get the refund credit to me. When I called they said it will take 30-60 days to process.

How the hell can it be so difficult to get the money being overcharged by the water department? Has any of yall experienced this before and could give me any advice? I even complained to my district council but it doesn’t seem to expedite the process.

Is there any reliable source of posting renting information online for free?

I have a 1B1B at TMC area that needs to be leased urgently. I have been posting on FB, Criaglist, and words of mouth over the past two months but still didn’t find anybody. Some people are really assholes who ghosted me after scheduling a tour. HAR and Zillow can be good but they might need an agent which I don’t have.

Can you guys recommend any places that I can find some good people to talk about? THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Energy help. How much electricity do you use for a 1B1B?

My apartment is a 1B1B of 700 square feet. I am at home a lot, turn lights off at daytime and on at night, and keep my AC at about 75 degrees all day long.

My September electric bill is $121 of 1000+ kWh used… I felt it’s kinda too much but don’t know what I can do to save the bill… How much did you guys pay for a 1B1B like mine?
