I was having travel FOMO but tbh Houston without traffic IS a new land

I got a low pile synthetic rug, rubber back 5x7 at a yard sale. It's got some dirt/dust though! On the back too (?!).Light pale mud? Vacuuming isn't enough. I have no outside space to beat it. I tried and unintentionally created a dust cloud of pissed off fire ants on the dusty rug. At that point I couldn't bring it back inside Now it's riding in my car and I'm not sure if I've also created a fire ant colony in my car, but I'd like the rug to be on the floor by my couches just dust and fire ant free.

I took it to the laundromat on North main but worth a name but their larger washer doesn't quite or doesn't quite seem like it would do the trick.. Does anybody know of a washing terrier with extra large washers? Other suggestions are welcome! Lol I know that could be opening the flood gates. For what it's worth, the rug cost $5

On the powertochoose.org site, I can see the basic info. Has anyone, anywhere, been able to do a more detailed analysis of estimated monthly bills, fixed rate, with the price/kwh AND delivery fees/other base charges? I just dug through Payless Power's TOS and saw the $2.92/day charge, among other hidden fees.

Am also comparing 12 month plans to 24 month plans and seeing how the early termination fees affect it (it's easier just to look at 12 months, I think).

This school year I drive between Houston, College Station, Huntsville, and back several times a week. There is no viable alternate route between Huntsville and Houston without tacking on a chunk of extra time, and I 45 is scariest (to me) in MoCo. Driver aggression is insane.

So....yeah. I figure it's unrealistic, but when I worked in Guatemala a few years ago one of my friends had a bulletproof SUV (can't remember what but it was impressive). Not bec they were bad people; it was a family of heart doctors.

Just thought I'd ask.

Hi. Ceiling is wooden tongue 'n groove slats; some have gaps between (old house). Attic heat is escaping a bit, obvi. Has blown insulation in there already. As a result, there's some sweating/dripping occurring in 3 spots (and has been for some time, although not on the seller's disclosure). This happens when the temp differential is extreme (when tenants moved out last week they left the thermostat on 68). Already had an AC guy reseal around the vents (helped, but not where the other drips are).

SO his thoughts on options are:

1. Caulk between the ceiling gaps. // This seems heavily labor intensive, unattractive aesthetically, and not the best fix.
2. Spray foam insulation in the ceiling' perhaps putting down some plastic liner between the foam and the wood so that foam doesn't ooze through the gaps. // How toxic and off-gassy is this stuff? It has to be a certain type of foam, yes? Thoughts?
3. Sheetrock the ceiling. // Also unattractive aesthetically; loses some of the recycled material artwork (designs w corks), everything needs to be rewired.

I'm cleaning out the rental house that's had a storied (!) thread of tenants over the years. It's one of those big old Heights houses with pillars (!) in the living area and random rooms and things squirreled everywhere. It's fallen apart too much and will be demolished, but in the meantime I'm trying to make next month's rent by doing the above (with my landlady's permission)..

There's a 1979 Kenmore refrigerator tucked away in the laundry room that was full of alcohol (sadly, my ex roommate just got to it, and she took most of it to her new house). I unplugged it yesterday bec duh. Any ideas on (fingers crossed) a way to get cash for it? Or get it hauled off at a reasonable price? TIA
