Article says that Houston wanted to jump on Mahomes like the Chiefs did, but that they were “unable” to move up and grab him. So Houston was unable but KC was able? According to the article, Houston “settled” with trading with Cleveland and taking Watson.

So Watson was our consolation prize. To me, this is possibly even worse for BoB than the Hopkins trade. We were two picks away from the future MVP and SBMVP…and we ended up with the probowler. Don’t get me wrong, Watson is nice, definitely better than Trubisky – but f**k me we were so close to Mahomes, who is undeniably superior to Watson. Even when we get out franchise quarterback, we get the wrong franchise quarterback. We get the Phillip Rivers (the perennial probowler and stat machine) in the draft of Roethlisberger and Mannings (who actually won superbowls.)
