For context, I am originally from the Houston area, but have not lived there for some time. I am thinking of moving back in the coming years. That being said, I was wondering if lake culture was prevalent there. Most places I've lived have had rabid lake cultures where people get second homes on the water which they flock to every weekend.

Is that a thing in the Houston area or is boating usually just a Galveston Bay/Gulf of Mexico thing? If so, what lakes are popular destinations? Thanks in advance for the responses!
