Clinical Trials (in Houston) for Kids 6 Months – 15 Years Pfizer and Moderna, two of the makers of COVID-19 vaccines, are starting the next phase of clinical trials in children and are now recruiting pediatric patients starting at 6 months old to 15 years.

While the virus has more heavily impacted adults, to defeat the pandemic, children will also have to be immunized, which means trials are necessary to make sure vaccines are safe for them.

Before deciding whether to enroll your child in a trial, consult with your pediatrician or family physician about your child’s risk of experiencing side effects from the vaccine due to allergies or other underlying health conditions.

The Ventavia Research Group in Houston, located at 610 North Loop and Ella, is currently recruiting patients 6 months old to 15 years of age. Patients will receive either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or a placebo. Interested parents can call 832-831-5349 for more information.

OP WARNING:

This is a trial of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine, that means your child may get a placebo. Therefore, you can’t assume your child is vaccinated.

This is a PSA and nothing more.

Free Covid-19 Testing in Harris County

G/F woke up this moring with scratchy throat. It’s what we had the 1st time we had Covid in February. We are vacinated, but Delta doesn’t care. Figure if we have Covid again we’ll have mild symtoms and be fine in a couple of weeks. Anyway this is what I found:

Harris County has 3 FREE testing centers open. Testing availible today, results back in 3 to 5 days.

San Jacinto College Central

8060 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, TX 77505

Lone Star College Cypress

19710 Clay Road, Katy, TX 77449

East Aldine District

2909 E. Aldine Amphitheatre Drive, Houston, TX 77039

Start here:

https://covcheck.hctx.net

There’s supposed to be free testing at https://www.questdiagnostics.com/home/ these drive through locations are at Walmart’s everywhere around Harris County. Results that day or next day. Great, except none of the appointments that show up on the website are actually availible. Quest Diagnotics is no help, you can’t get to a human, and if you go through all the call menus, you find out you can only get a insurance covered Covid test if your doctors orders it through them.

Will update as I learn more.
