Welp...here we go again. My contract is about to expire mid-May and shopping around as we speak.

F*ck me. This is absolutely out of control.

As of today - my best options are as follows:

• 60 months @ 12.3cents/kWh (don't want to commit to 5 years)
• 36 months @ 12.5cents/kWh (don't really want to commit to 3 years either)
• 24 months @ 13.6cents/kWh (maybe I'd sign for 2 years?)
• 18 months @ 14.4cents/kWh
• 12 months @ 14.7cents/kWh
• 9 months @ 16.1cents/kWh
• 6 months @ 17cents/kWh
• 3 months @ 12cents/kWh

Question to my fellow Houston redditors - what would you do here? 3 months sounds good but then I'd be renewing again in August which would probably be even worse.

I've read the move is to try to time your renewals in the winter, so maybe I bite the bullet and just pay out the ass with the 6 or 9 month plan and renew in the late fall or winter and hope for better rates then? Or just commit to a 12-24 month plan and just get used to my electricity bill being almost f*cking 50% more than what I'm currently paying (9.4cents/kWh)?

Any thoughts or opinions are greatly appreciated.

What the title says. Just moved into a new place and finally have some outdoor space to enjoy. What kind of patio furniture do you all use? How's it hold up to the elements here in Houston? Any advice is much appreciated!

Hello Houston reddit!

I just bought my first house and am stressed enough with everything else that I decided to be lazy and use Energy Ogre to find my electricity plan for my new place. In the past, I've done the math myself and found plans using Smart Meter Texas and PowerToChoose. With the new house, I was unable to get the energy usage history so I bit the bullet and paid $10 to Energy Ogre to find me one. They signed me up for a 5 month plan that looks fine.

My question is - why would I continue to pay $10 a month to Energy Ogre? What's stopping me from cancelling my subscription completely and then renewing 5 months from now when I need a new contract? I can't seem to find anything on their website that tells me I can't do this...

Curious about the experience. I know there's no tailgating but are my dad and I good to drink a couple beers in the lot? How has this been being enforced? Also, how's the parking sitch been? Are they just moving everybody into the closer lots? My dad's got a bit of a mobility issue. Thanks!
