I have epilepsy and I am unsure how to start navigating biking.

I’m somewhat new to outdoor biking (did a lot of spin). I have to say goodbye to my car for now, and I am so scared to bike out there cause I’m such a novice and people drive crazy sometimes. I’ll do it in my neighborhood, but yeesh, too scared to go beyond that.

I’m in suburbs where even sidewalks are a distant memory. I live maybe a 1-2 mile from 1960 and I would hate to be the next death story 😳

Regardless… I need to start doing something. I don’t want to slave money I work hard to make to put into uber. I do have a boyfriend who will pick me up when we hang together, and I do have my mom that drops me to work, but for other things, I want to be somewhat independent…

For those of you who bike/walk outside the city of Houston, how do you make it work?

Cool places to visit in Houston or other parts near Houston? Potentially for vacation?

My boyfriend came from Canada 2 years ago, and I’ve been in Houston for the past 16/17 years. We’re both 24. I came from Los Angeles, so…. things imo were a bit of a downgrade when I came here. I love Houston and consider it my home, don’t get me wrong, but there was a lot more to do in LA.

We love Houston food, but I also want to try other cool things. I loved the LA Aquarium, but the one here is not great imo. The one in San Antonio was probably worse. We enjoyed the riverwalk in San Antonio, and I like Buffalo Bayou park here in Houston. In fact, next time, we want to bike there. I liked Little Woodrow’s bar for the turtle races, but I’m not a bar person. He doesn’t drink much. I love Montrose for the clubs, but he isn’t a club boy lol.

I have been on those “what to do in Houston” pages, and I… am not enthralled 🙁 I been to the Space Center, Discovery Green is cool for a little bit, and then idk what else to do.

Can you guys help me out? Even if it’s in Galveston or within 4-5 hours, we don’t mind. We do like nature. We are planning on taking a mini vacation of 2-3 days in Early February. We both would like a vacation as he is burnt out from work and I just finished nursing school and will have taken my NCLEX

thanks so much guys!
