so... this is what you want to do... and everyone here... to prepare for a hurricane in the Houston area.

1) first lookup if you are in a flood zone. if you are in a flood zone, it is in your best interest to LEAVE THE AREA if a hurricane is expected.

2) if you are NOT in a flood zone, get enough bottled water to last you and anyone living with you enough to last at least a week. do it now, not when a hurricane is forecast to come because the stores ALL SELL OUT!!!

3) It would be rare for a cat4+ hurricane to come here. as long as it is lower than that, then likely your home will stand. so your best bet would be to just wait it out. if the hurricane is expected to be above a 3, then leave town, it can destroy homes even if you're not in a flood zone.
