I know all of yall are in agreement here, but i’m pissed and need to vent.
First of all Cal McNair lied to us as fans. All season long he pushed out a narrative that Korn Ferry in conjunction with his own personal committee with none other than texans legend, AJ80 was on, would pick out the next GM and HC. All season long he pushed this narrative. He even came out and repeatedly stated that Jack Easterby would not have a say in important decisions. Welp we were lied to. With the power play of hiring Nick Casario, its clear Cal Mcnair has no say in the direction of this franchise, and Jack Easterby is now the shadow owner of this team until the day he is fired.
Its been spelled out why Jack Easterby isnt qualified for his role here so I will not dwell on that, even though he is extremely unqualified. Rather I will argue why Jack Easterby’s “culture first/New England” philosophy will never work here. Many have tried implementing this before. It is a platitude to hear these “culture guys” fail over and over again in the NFL. Look at the “culture” that Matt Patricia set up in Detroit. Lest I remind you of the “winning culture” Greg Schiano attempted to set up while HC of Tampa bay against the Giants. Ironically another great example is the “winning culture” set by Tom Coughlin in Jacksonville–which got seemingly equally as toxic as ours is headed.
If you dont think Jack Easterby wants to replicate the “patriot way” here in Houston, your shittin yourself. As a fan of the Texans, the most frustrating thing is that out of all the teams that have hired former Patriots, we will be the only team in football to try this “patriot way” BS for a second time, despite it failing over and over again everywhere including here. Ultimately, I would still love for Nick Casario to succeed, however I cannot accept Jack Easterby to stay on staff with the Texans. As a fan I cannot help but feel duped and lied to. Its not just him pissing off deshaun, or AJ80. I cant accept it because as long as Easterby is here I feel we are truly doomed to fail. Its like the jets hiring Adam Gase after accomplishing nothing with the dolphins even though won a super bowl as peyton’s OC. Moreover, in what other context is a team chaplin unfireable by anyone else other than the owner. Its ridiculous!
