In the early months of the epidemic, I read that property crime increased, especially burglaries of unoccupied commercial property.

Is that still going on? Yesterday there was a story on NPR about how violent crimes have been increasing, but overall crimes are down. Car theft, burglaries, etc.

is that happening in Houston too? An exhaustive five-minute search on Google wasn't helpful.

Last night the picture on our big TV went out. We hear sound but the screen is dark. We took a smaller TV from a bedroom and it worked fine, but today the picture on that one is bad, too; dark and purple. Now we just realized that our A/C is not cooling.

Could these all be related? Was there anything funny going on with the electricity out here the last couple of days? Probably not because my desktop computer was not affected, but I'm trying to make sense of it all.
