Activities/clubs for elderly in their 60’s?

Good evening fellows Houston Redditors. So my mom lives with me and she is retired. She is in her 60’s and she is getting bored at times (I work most of the day). Other than a church, which other activities/clubs/hobbies would you recommend? She is a very social person. We are in the east side, but I don’t mind driving so she can have some social activities.

Thanks in advance!!

What Im missing here?? animal hoarder situation

Good afternoon Houston,

I would like some opinions/ input in this situation:

I live in the East side of Houston. One of my neighbors is a stray dog hoarder. He holds about 4 to 5 street dogs in his property and some of these dogs eventually disappears, just to be replaced by other dogs.

The problem is that these dogs are in a 3 x 5 ft space the whole day, and at some point of the day, the owner ( who is a man in his 80s) just opens the door and these dogs just run loose around the community. These dogs are very aggressive and had bite several people who is just walking around.

Last Saturday, I saw these dogs bitting a kid who was just walking to his house from school ( we had an elementary school close by.) I talk with the kid and he has a visible bruise from the bite in his knee. I advise him to go to the doctor, since I doubted that the dogs are vaccinated.

What really surprises me is that SPCA came a few months ago, and the officer said that there are several reports of dogs bitting people in the community. I called animal control to report the kid incident, and they affirm me “Oh we actually has reports of aggressive dogs in this address.” Dogs are still there and the owner still let them loose everyday.

What Im missing here? All authorities know about the situation but they Don’t do nothing about it. In addition, kids from an elementary school walks around every day.

Any suggestions or group that deal with this as well?

I appreciate the help in advance!
