Hi Houston, I’m new here. As a homeowner who want to do some minor electrical work*, I’m assuming I need a permit, but it looks like I need to be a master electrician to pull one? Can someone confirm if this is the case? What can a homeowner legally do without a permit? I have asked the question of the permits office, but no reply as yet

*add a branch to an existing socket.

We are moving to Houston in a few months as my wife has taken a job at Texas Children’s. We’ve given up trying to buy a house as they are going faster than we can fly down to see them, so are going to rent for a bit.

These apartments look great and show well on the virtual tour we did with the agent, but if you sift through the Google reviews, a lot of them seem to be about how wonderful the agent was on the tour, and reviews from actual residents are often less glowing. Main complaints seem to be elevator speed, weed smell and crime, which doesn’t seem that likely in a managed complex that sells itself as “luxury”…?

Does anybody have any experience or thoughts on this complex?
