Has there ever been a higher performing bullpen in baseball history than the 2022 Houston Astros?

If we’re talking all-time best bullpens historically, anecdotally, statistically, etc…do the 2022 Astros boast a top 3 bullpen all-time? Or do you think it might be #1?

Pressly and Abreu pitched 22.1 innings of 0.00 ERA baseball in the 2022 postseason. The bullpen was so disgusting, that the guy who set the Houston Astros reliever record for lowest ERA in a single season, Ryne Stanek was considered the least trusted by many fans/commentators of the available postseason relievers (during the Mariners series). He only pitched 3 innings in the postseason, striking out 6, giving up 0 hits.

Hector Neris pitched 6 innings giving up 2 hits and 1 run, with a 0.33 WHIP and .100 BAA.

Rafael Montero pitched 9.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, with a 1.18 WHIP and .156 BAA. The worst performer statistically had borderline elite numbers.

Played against a super hot, high-powered offense and no-hit them in their own stadium in arguably the most crucial game of the world series, and continued to shut the door on them through the remainder of the series. Played against a potent offense in the ALCS against an MVP home run king and shut him down.

Can anyone think of or remember dominant bullpens in baseball history that were comparable?

Let’s talk about DH

Am I crazy to think we should try having Vázquez DH for a few games? We’re not really getting much production from this position in the playoffs so far. I feel like between Mancini, Diaz, and Vázquez, that Christian Vázquez has had more productive at bats. I know he’s a catcher, but I feel like he gives us the best shot to win if he DHs games in which Maldy is catching.
