Water provider?

I’m trying to sign up for trash/water for a new house that I’m closing and moving into later this week. The information provided by seller is that trash and water is serviced by city of Houston, which is what I expected. I tried to sign up on Houston Public Works (https://www.houstonwaterbills.houstontx.gov/ProdDP/Default/Default) and it told me that my address is not in the system. I then called the customer service number, the agent told me that they do not service my address and that I can try calling 311 to find out the subdivision’s water info. I called 311 and the agent was going to transfer me to the water department but after waiting for 10 mins it just disconnected.

I will try calling again, but I’m really confused. I thought water is serviced by city of Houston? Why are they telling me that they don’t service this address? The house is three years ago so it’s not because the address is new. Could someone educate me on this please? I will call 311 again and if that doesn’t work I will contact the seller to get more info, but just really confused.

Mortgage questions

Hi all,

First time home buyer here looking to start the process in the next couple months or so.

Anyone has experience with Rocket Mortgage/Quicken loans? I have two friends who used RM and QL in the past year – both had great experience. I would appreciate any additional inputs and sharing your experience with your mortgage lender whether it’s positive or negative.

I was also wondering how many months of bank statements your mortgage lender requested from you for pre-approval? I understand that it’s typically 60 days, but my friend who recently used QL said he only had to provide the most recent one. The reason I ask is because my parents who live overseas wired me a lump sum of money to help with my down payment (>20%), and I am aware that they would have to provide a gift letter. Due to the fact that their bank is overseas, it’s kind of a hassle to gather the required documents (e.g. translations and notarized copies), so I prefer not to deal with that unless I have to. This means waiting 60 days (or however many months of bank statements that’s required by the mortgage lender) so that the money from my parents has sit long enough on my account. It does not matter to me at the end of the day as I can simply wait 60-90 days to start the process, but if RM or QL only requires one month of bank statement then that means I can get pre-approved sooner and possibly start looking for my dream home already.

Thanks in advance!

(Not sure if matters, but my credit score is 795+, steady and decent income from W-2, no debt)
