Rental space to hold occasional, small art classes?

Hi r/houston! i’m looking to find some options on renting a space where my mother could host her 1:1 and small group painting classes.

Her classes are similar to those you see at Paint and Sip places, where she provides all of the supplies and she teaches a selected painting to the budding artists. She does Bob Ross paintings, BTW 🙂

So it is generally a middle aged to older crowd. Many clients host her at their own homes, but some clients don’t have as much room to work with. Just looking to see if anyone here knows of smallish art spaces that she could rent on a sporadic basis – TIA!

Houston Ballot Propositions Explainer + GO VOTE TOMORROW!!

Hey Houston!

I have been googling around trying to find out more information about the ballot propositions during this Primary Election. I found the Association of Texas Professional Educators website to be helpful in explaining: https://www.teachthevote.org/news/2020/02/07/beyond-candidates-2020-texas-primary-ballot-propositions/

An excerpt:

“In many elections ballot propositions pertain to bonds, referendums on local ordinances, or even constitutional amendments. But what are ballot propositions with regard to primary elections? Perhaps the best definition I’ve seen comes from the Republican Party of Texas website, which states as follows:

“Keep in mind that [ballot propositions are] an opinion poll of [primary] voters and not a policy referendum. When you vote YES or NO, you are telling us what you think should happen. You are not voting to make a law but merely saying you agree or disagree with the statement.”

Each party, Republican and Democratic, has put forth a set of value statements and is asking those who vote in the party’s primary to give their opinion on those statements.”

I didn’t find this in a search of the subreddit so I’m posting in hopes somebody else can benefit from this as well!

PS: GO VOTE!
