I'll be attending grad school at Rice and considering to rent an apartment in either Montrose/Hyde Park or East Downtown. The apartment complex I really like is in East Downtown but I haven't heard much about the area. I understand Montrose is a hip area and close to Rice but East Downtown doesn't seem that far either. I like going out and would like to uber to bars easily and will obviously need to commute to school 4x+ a week. Any thoughts on what would be a better pick?
