This thread by a criminal defense attorney of 20 years, Drew Davenport, is his input on the Deshaun situation. Obviously he's not personally connected to the case and has no insider info, so take this info however you'd like to take it, but he has way more credibility than all the armchair "lawyers" in this sub.

I'm also getting this question with respect to the Civil cases - why is he pleading the Fifth?

It makes zero sense for Watson to sit for a civil deposition when criminal charges are being considered.

Think of it like a DUI case. Often my clients give up information that they don't realize hurts them. An example of that is when they are asked - "have you had anything to drink?" and they say "yes, 2 beers."

They think this sounds good and might get them off the hook.

But what they've actually done is confirmed that they drank alcohol that night. Huge mistake. You've already given the State part of their case.

There is no reason for Watson to sit and confirm any part of any story while the GJ is still out.

The complicating factor here is that the Judge in the civil case said he only had to be deposed on cases where the women had already gone but were NOT part of the criminal considerations. Seems reasonable right?

Yes. But also nah. I'm still telling my client to stay quiet.

So for anyone who says that Deshaun pleading the 5th is an admission of guilt, you are quite simply incorrect.

So, on Friday, according to Tony Buzbee "at least 6" women will testify before the GJ. We do not know if that will end Friday.

We don't know if that will give us a result. Indictments are usually secret.

We are so close, but we aren't quite there yet. Friday is a big day.
