So pretty nervous. I've never left home so leaving my home and family is scary at the moment. I have to leave for a two year program at Baylor College of Medicine and it will only be me and my dog.

I was looking for housing but car theft and vandalism seems to be a pretty big issue everywhere I look at reviews.

Does anyone have advice on where to live where it is 1. affordable, 2. safe for a woman, 3. safe for my car and is either in the suburbs or in the TMC area. I dont mind driving 30minutes. I just want to live somewhere safe where I can walk my dog and not have my car broken into. I will be working late nights sometimes, so I am really scared especially cuz I am a woman.

If anyone also has advice about moving from another state to Houston, TX I'd really appreciate it.

I feel really stupid honestly trying to figure this out. I never thought I would be leaving SoCal, especially for two years.

My budget is from 1200-1300.
