Previous two water bills indicates last read at 905k gallons and 0 usage. Went out to the meter to take a picture and the meter reads approximately 1044k gallons. The account usage page on the water department portal shows the 905k read goes back to April 2018. Called the customer service line and they told me my move-in read was 905k and they they'll need to have a tech come out to check and test my water meter.

According to the customer service rep, that kind of adjustment is going to be 3-4 thousand dollars. I did not document the meter reading when I moved in. I've never had water service through the City of Houston directly. Last place, the water and trash was billed to and paid by the HOA. Am I about to get fucked in the asshole by CoH for 140k gallons of water usage?
