I was driving on 45N this afternoon around 1:20pm, took the 610W ramp and on the shoulder of the ramp there was a man outside of a SUV trying to wave drivers down. I thought he might need some help because who would park on a crazy busy outbound ramp?? So I pulled over on the shoulder and the man approached me.
He said he was from Dubai, sounded Arabic from what I could tell and he definitely didn’t speak the best English. I’d say he was around 5’6 in height and was a bit portly. Had a bunch of jewelry on and dress clothes (black slacks and white button up).
Anyways he tells me that he needs gas money. I thought since he’s parked in such a dangerous spot maybe he really needs help. He proceeds to say a bunch of s**t of him needing to go to Miami, catch a flight etc and then takes off a ring from his finger and wants to trade for some money, which I refuse multiple times, he claimed to be rich and the ring was real gold blah blah blah and just needed money so he can get outta there. I don’t really carry cash but I had a few bucks so I thought maybe I could get him some gas. I asked if he had a gas can or if I can take him to the gas station, where in turn he spoke a bunch of gibberish I couldn’t understand and refused the ride, then he said he needed food or something?? Idk… Well I wanted to leave and handed him a few bucks, he even asked for more but I didn’t have anything to give him. He ended up handing me the ring because he wouldn’t take my refusal of it and left.
I called the cops and told them about the stranded man. I wonder if anybody experienced this or saw the man?
Anyways I took the ring to an appraiser and they told me what I already knew… the ring was obv fake.
Not trippin at all, just wanted to help the guy. Thought he was really in distress cause who would park there? That ramp is wild!
