End-Of-Season Anticipation Campfire Chat Thread

Happy Holidays! Hope everyone had a great time and got lots of stuff!

As we get closer to the end of 2022, with two games left for the Texans, we’d like to go over a few things in anticipation of this off-season:

All in all, we (mods) have been very relaxed in our moderation this year; that is, we’ve let a lot of stuff slide that would have been removed in prior years.

We’ve also not been updating stuff here as much this year (header, sidebar, flairs, etc)

Reddit is still progressing towards “New” reddit, with old reddit gradually being phased out. It’s pretty damn taxing on us to update old reddit, new reddit, mobile reddit (yes all three need individual updating) as well as making it work on every possible mobile platform. (love that people have sent me pics of reddit on their steam deck and nintendo switch, asking us to tweak something so it looks better for them specifically lol)

Onto the talking points:

With the Draft, please keep in mind:
  • We all want the Texans to improve! but we don’t all agree on the best way to do that.
  • Just because someone does not support your draft ideas, does not mean they are your enemy.
  • Your mock draft submissions will be removed (post that stuff as a comment in one of the stickied talk threads please)
  • We will have our annual Mock Draft Submission thread up sometime after the completion of the regular season, where you can officially make your predictions for the draft.
Blog Spam
  • There has been an increase in the amount of people posting links and advertising their own blogs, podcast, youtube channels, etc lately.
  • This has never been okay. We’ve just been more relaxed about it this year.
  • Going forward, submissions of these types will be removed.
  • We’ve always had an anti-personal gain policy here. This includes people selling stuff (links to etsy, t-shirts, vendors in general*), promoting your own site (hey guys! check out my blog, podcast, etc).

Outsiders get fascinated by reddit. Something gets linked here, their site gets *crushed by traffic, they get super-excite, they want to exploit if for gain, etc.*

Overall, some things to keep in mind:

Whatever your opinion is, it’s guaranteed that someone is going to disagree with you. And that’s okay. You’re not wrong. They’re not wrong. Opinions aren’t that easy. No one really knows what this draft holds for the Texans.

  • The Downvote arrow is not a Disagree button.
  • The Report button isn’t a ‘I really disagree’ button.
  • If you don’t agree with someone, and they don’t agree with you, doesn’t make you enemies.
  • We’re all Texans fans. We all want the same goal. Sometimes we just disagree on the best way to go about it (and who the best player to draft is).
  • If someone has posted a meaningful contribution, just because you disagree with it doesn’t mean you should downvote it.
  • Try seeing things from another perspective. Don’t be so locked into your own view that you can’t see all sides of a situation.

All in all, isn’t this year really about the Tits blowing their playoff berth, the Colts sucking the life out of another QB, the Jags probably going to completely embarrass themselves in the playoffs, and the Texans going on to a better future?
