r/Texans 2020 Official Draft Contest

remember, this is just for fun. Feel free to just throw out your predictions, or who you hope the Texans take, or vent over GM frustrations!

The Contest

Predict the Texans 2020 NFL Draft Selections

The Format

Submit your post in the following format:

2. NAME, SCHOOL, and POSITION (First pick only) 3. POSITION (position only for the next two picks) 4. POSITION 5. OFFENSE **OR** DEFENSE (side of the ball for all subsequent picks) 7. OFFENSE **OR** DEFENSE 7. OFFENSE **OR** DEFENSE 7. OFFENSE **OR** DEFENSE

The Rules

  1. Submit your prediction to this thread by April 23th, 2020 at Noon CDT. Entries submitted after this time will not be valid. YOU ARE ALLOWED TO EDIT YOUR ENTRY AS OFTEN AS YOU LIKE UNTIL THE DEADLINE. At Noon, We will be taking a screenshot of the page and using the entries as they are.

  2. The entry with the most points wins

  3. Each entry shall consist of the NAME of the first player the Texans select, worth 10 points, the POSITION of the next 2 picks, worth 5 points each and the SIDE OF THE BALL of the remaining picks (worth 2 points each)

  4. Ties will be broken in order of earliest incorrect answer. So if you have the first pick correct and none of the rest, you will still win over someone who has picks 2 and 3 correct and no others, even though they both have 10 points. The same goes for if someone has 1 and 2 correct, they will beat someone who had picks 1 and 3 correct.

  5. Only submit one entry.

  6. Please note that this is picking the players selected in a certain order, and not in which round, so if we trade our 1st round pick for an additional 2nd and 4th round picks, the player selected first will still count as the first player selected, no matter the round. Make sense? Good.

  7. If the Texans select a player, and immediately trade him, that selected player still counts as the pick. If the Texans select OT Andre Dillard with their 1st pick, trade him for two picks in next years draft, and select OT Greg Little with the 54th pick, pick 1 would still be Andre Dillard and pick 2 would be Greg Little.

  8. Ties will be broken by a random selection of the user’s name

Additional Notes

  • Please make sure you’re specific about the position with the first three picks. Offensive Lineman or Defensive Back are not specific enough. Needs to be Offensive Tackle, Offensive Guard, Cornerback, Inside Linebacker, Outside Linebacker, etc. (Abbreviations like OT, C, QB, CB are fine)

  • Punters and Kickers are not part of the rules. If for some reason they take a special teams player, everyone will get that position correct regardless of putting Offense/Defense.

Rules are subject to change

But probably won’t unless someone points out a mistake to me

Welcome to the Post-Hopkins Texans Campfire Chat Thread

General Sub Concerns

Since the Hopkins trade news broke, we’ve been inundated with reaction posts, fire BoB rants, change.org links, memes of various quality, Dear BoB I’m Leaving letters, and don’t skip the “[insert team] fan coming in peace” humble-brag s**t-posts.

Usually we would remove a lot of these “F-BoB” posts, not because we disagree with them, but they are duplicates of others, gaining no traction, most have a few upvotes and one or two comments. It clutters the sub and dilutes the conversation.

Please do not think we are sympathizing with BoB on this if we remove your post, it’s just an effort to keep the sub running smoothly.

Small Rant to get it out of my system…

If the Texans have success going forward, it’s not due to anything BoB has done, it’s in spite of it. Trading Hopkins might have been necessary going forward for the Texans (he had 3 years left but no guaranteed money on his contract / rumor states he wanted at least $20M a year, mostly guaranteed on a long deal.) So trading Hopkins might have been necessary? but trading Hopkins for a 2nd round pick is just laughably inept. David Johnson is someone you pick up off waivers, not feature in a blockbuster trade. I have so much more empathy for how the Mom felt in Jack and the Beanstalk now.

At least we have the draft to look forward to

Baseball opening day was March 26, now uncertain. NBA is still on hiatus, I think they’re still discussing some sort of make-shift playoffs for this year? It’s up in the air.

The NFL Draft is about the only sports-related event on the calendar anytime soon.

In the past, we’ve had draft prediction contest. The buzz for that seems dim here, so I was going to skip it this year; however, considering it’s about all that’s going on right now, if enough people want it, we can still do it.

In the end, it’s just a game

Hope everyone is doing well. We are experiencing a life-time event, we’ll look back on this later and wonder what the heck was up with people hoarding all the toilet-paper? (We’ve been strongly told that we are not allowed to take toilet paper home from work; joke’s on them, I only poop at the office). I remember in 1999 when people were seriously predicting the end of the world, and were hoarding toilet paper; I was genuinely confused: If we’re all going to die, why do we need TP? People are weird. I just want to play Animal Crossing in peace and hopefully be able to wipe myself if the need arises.
