I'll be moving into a 3rd-floor apartment about 15-20 minutes away from parents. Its only my bedroom (queen-sized bed, 7-piece dresser with vanity, and side table), everything else I'll move myself.

I'm currently booked with 3 Men Movers where their hourly rate is $179 for a minimum of 2 hours, and travel fee is $98. The hourly rate starts once they arrive to the house to start packing up my furniture.

I like their current rating, and going by some threads on here, other people recommend them. I have a boss however, who used their services successfully in the past but she was harassed by one of the workers to the point he got fired so she warned me to be wary.

Should I stick with them or keep shopping around?

Reliant plan? https://houstonnewmedia.org/reliant-plan/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=reliant-plan Sat, 01 May 2021 16:28:56 +0000 http://houstonnewmedia.org/?guid=450005af867a140c6702797068848e63

So I've recently been accepted for my first apartment, yeeeees, and the manager recommended I go with Reliant.

I'll be living on the 3rd floor, RIP to me, so it'll probably get really hot during the summer but I won't be moving in until end of July. I'm using powertochoose.org to compare rates and Reliant is offering a deal for new customers at a fixed 24-month rate, where it's:

  • 500kWh for 11.4 cents

  • 1000kWh for 10.4 cents

  • 2000kWh for 9.9 cents

I live in a house with 5 people and a baby so the energy bill is pretty high, especially around this time. I do what I can to conserve power but I'll be in the same area as my family (about 20 minutes away).

I'll be living alone but I work everyday except Sunday, and won't be home until around 5-6 so I can keep certain appliances unplugged and lights off. I am shopping around currently and have time, but I wonder....

Looking at Westchase to live https://houstonnewmedia.org/looking-at-westchase-to-live/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=looking-at-westchase-to-live Wed, 17 Mar 2021 00:41:17 +0000 http://houstonnewmedia.org/?guid=989d471bc6f413ab1b33118730abd6d6

I plan to move around August and I'm looking at various apartments around the city. I kinda have my eye on the Westchase area and I'm rather familiar with it for the most part.

However, I've read mixed reviews on how one area is rather nice and right around the block is shady/seedy as hell. The apartments I'm looking at are rated 4.0+ or very close to it. I keep to myself and don't go out, plan on getting RING installed if certain apartments allow it, but I do worry still. What are your opinions on the area?
