Living without a car in Houston?

I got a job in Houston after graduating from Rice, and I really really wanted a car so I can be an independent adult. (No more asking for rides, be able to go out on my own terms, have the convenience of having my transportation at any time honestly) The car market, unfortunately, is very very jacked up and I can’t find any reliable vehicle I want for ~$10k.

Should I just try and live without a car? I wanted to date and have some social life which would make it very hard without owning a car I suppose. If you know any reputable dealer or someone to buy a car from.. someone that is not trying to scam me… I would appreciate a DM.

Just so frustrated. Just wanted to vent.
