I'm doing volunteering at Sharpstown HS this semester. To get there from UH, it looks like I'll have to take the bus, stop at the intersection of Beechnut & Bonhomme, and walk down Bonhomme to the high school, which should be only about a 13-minute walk. Is this safe to do? If not, what concerns should I have?

I'm doing some volunteering at Margaret Long Wisdom High School as a UH student, and I'll most likely have to use this bus route (25) to get to the school from the university's campus if I can't be reimbursed for ride-sharing fees.

I'm not terribly familiar with the area (Mid-West) or the route. Are there any safety concerns to be had?

I'm attending the University of Houston in the fall, and at the moment, it looks like I won't have a car. With that said, I decided to get a METRO pass from the university.

The Purple Line has a stop adjacent to the campus, and it seems like a fairly convenient and cheap (compared to ride-sharing, at least) way to get to and from Downtown. However, I have heard very mixed things about the safety of the route, primarily because it passes through the Third Ward.

If anyone has experience with the Purple Line, how safe is it? Does the safety vary between day and night? Should I be concerned at all?
